Telstra Drug Aware Pro underway at Margaret River Australia with epic 6-8 foot surf!

Posted: 2012/03/21 05:43:56 AM

The Telstra Drug aware Pro has got underway at Margaret River Western Australia in good clean 4-8 foot conditions. Marg’s is a great wave with loads of power, similar to that of Hawaii, and generally sorts the men from the boys when the surf gets up.
Conditions started off really fun this morning with clean surf for the men’s Prime event but unfortunately a bit of onshore winds accompanied by rain has chopped the conditions up and put a dampener on the South Africans performances. Four South Africans went down in the tricky condition, Royden Bryson was unlucky to loose a fin in his heat and Shaun Joubert lost to the raging bull, Mark Occhilupo and Aerial Specialist Josh Kerr, with Brandon Jackson and Travis Logie following suit. Dale Staples is through to the Round of 48 in pumping 6-8 foot surf, Dale loves the solid stuff so let hope he gets a big result. With the surf currently firing in the 6-8 foot range top seeds are dominating with the likes of Kelly Slater and Mick Fanning taking control. Conditions look very good for most the week so keep an eye on this event for some awesome surfing.

In the Women’s 6 Star event our South African girls are going strong with Rosy Hodge, Bianca Buitendag, Sarah Baum and Faye Zoetmulder all getting through to the Round of 48.

Good luck to all our surfers.
