John John continues his onslaught

Posted: 2012/03/28 12:27:44 PM

John John Florence has continued on his good roll with yet another victory, this time at the ASP 6 star PRIME rated Telstra Drug Aware Classic at Margaret River, Western Australia. Florence was by far the standout as he collected 5 of the top 10 single highest wave scores of the event. The surf was firing all event long with consistent 4-8 foot swell. John John took down Hawaiian Ola Eleogram who was surfing solid for a second place finish.
The highlight of the event for me was Occy! The Raging Bull was flaring and even though he is in his mid 40’s, he was looking as sharp as ever. The Occ finished 3rd over all amongst a top field including the Slaters, Burrows, Fannings and Parkinsons and it is refreshing to see the old guard firing like that! Well Done Occy!

Ding Dong, The Rip Curl Bells Beach classic is up in just a few days running from 3 April – 17 April. Conditions are looking favorable for the event with the boys amping up to win the Prestigious Bell Trophy. South African Jordy Smith is one surfer that has aways performed well at Bells with his big Powerful and innovative forehand turns. Kelly Slater has confirmed his participation in the event as has current ratings leader Taj Burrow. John John Florence will be another surfer to watch out for as he is fresh off a win in Margaret River!
