DURBAN, South Africa (Sunday, 1 July, 2007) – Despite the gale force winds of 25- 35 knots that battered the Durban beachfront, during day three of the Mr Price Pro six star ASP World Qualifying series event, eight resilient competitors advanced through the men’s trials, earning slots into the main event.

The swell has dropped and the wind has picked up, but the strong offshores are shaping clean and rippable waves in the New Pier bowl. Today``s Mr Price Pro Trials kicked off at 8am, South Africa``s best vying for an entry into the main event. Surfers to watch today include Durbanites Shane Thorne, Matthew Kruger and Dane Logie, all very comfortable and able to perform anywhere on their local turf.

New Pier, Durban) – South African U20 Champion Klee Strachan (Winklespruit) and world number ten on the ASP World Qualifying Series Nikita Robb (East London), where crowned the 2007 Mr Price Pro Junior Champions, at Durban’s New Pier today.

Mr Price Team Rider Gary van Wierengen is the first surfer from the trials to secure himself a position in the Round of 192 in the 2007 Mr Price Pro. We caught up with him after his final trials heat, which he blasted apart with two excellent rides of 8.00 and 7.83.
