The first ASP World Tour Prime event is to take place on the Island of Fernando de Noronha just off Brazil. The Hang Loose Pro, a 6 star Prime event running from 15-20 February, will be staged on the powerful breaking waves of Noronha and many of the worlds top surfers will contest the waves called the Brazilian Pipeline after the infamous Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu. Top seeds for the event include last years winner C.J. Hobgood, his brother Damien Hobgood, Brazilian favorites Adriano de Souza and Jadson Andre, along with South Africa Travis Logie and Australian Tom Whittaker. John John Florence who recently won the 5 star Pipeline Pro in Hawaii has also entered and should be a standout in the Barreling waves of Noronha.

Top South African seed and now tour veteran Travis Logie has had a busy start to the year with events such as the RedBull night shift in Cape Town, but this has not got in the way of his preparations and he had this to say about the up coming event: “ I know how important it is to get off to a good start early on in the year so I have put in extra effort with my training and preparation for this event. Brazil has been extremely good to me in the past, I think because the water is warm and the waves are punchy it makes me feel at home so I hope to carry my confidence and past good fortune in Brazil to this event. I have really been working hard with my equipment and I have 5 amazing boards right now for the start of the year so I feel I am in a good place. I am super amped right now and can’t wait for the event to start”

Travis will be bunking up with travel partners Royden Bryson and Brandon Jackson, all three of them extremely talented and they will be sure to feed off each other. The remaining South Africans in the event include Rudy Palmboom, Dale Staples and Shaun Joubert. Good Luck boys!
