BRAZIL`S KHODR TAKES INNUAGURAL WQS WIN IN DURBAN

DURBAN, South Africa (Sunday, 8 July, 2007) – Reigning Brazillian Surfing Champion Jihad Khodr, 23, (Machios, Brazil) stamped his Nation`s authority on the 6-Star ASP World Qualifying Series Mr Price Pro by becoming the fourth Brazilian surfer to win the event in eight years at Durban`s New Pier today.

Brazil`s Jihad Khodr has won the 2007 Mr Price Pro ahead of French surfer Jeremy Flores. Khodr`s outstanding form saw him post the highest heat total of the event in his semi final, and go on to post an outstanding 9.00 ride and a 7.33 to take the win with an excellent total of 16.33 to Flores` 12.44.

It`s the final day of the 2007 Mr Price Pro, and conditions are looking perfect! Clean 3 foot lines are running along the New Pier and the South West is blowing a fresh offshore, with the surfers enjoying long, peeling walls on which to work their magic.


 


Mr Price Team Rider Gary van Wierengen

Mr Price Team Rider Gary van Wierengen is the first surfer from the trials to secure himself a position in the Round of 192 in the 2007 Mr Price Pro. We caught up with him after his final trials heat, which he blasted apart with two excellent rides of 8.00 and 7.83.
