The star-studded line-ups of the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival Free Music Concerts attracted a massive crowd of all ages to Salt Rock beach on both Friday (6 July) and Saturday (7 July) night. This saw fans not only jumping on a high for some of their favourite artists on the beach but also enjoying the food court and cider garden which proved to be a great success.

On Friday over 9 000 beach-goers were treated to world class rock performances from Gangs of Ballet, Wonderboom, the Ard Matthews Trio, Shadow Club, aKing, Crash Car Burn and Flash Republic. Sugar dance studio also put on a great twist to the evening by performing a flash mob during the concert which was enjoyed by the crowds.

The second night of the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival Free Music Concerts catered for upbeat house and dance music fans. It definitely proved to be a much bigger night with over 12 000 people and the line up of Toya Delazy, Lloyd Cele, iscreamstix, Locnville, Pascal & Pearce, GoodLuck and Dino Bravo created a lively vibe and saw people ‘letting their hair down’.  Popular South African TV personality, Liezel van der Westhuizen, joined the crowds and kept them entertained in between the performances.

The definite crowd favourites were twin brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin of Locnville as well as Pascal & Pearce and GoodLuck who kept the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival Free Concerts crowd on their feet and jamming all night.

GoodLuck, comprised of duo Ben Peters and Juliet Harding, who have recently returned from their successful international tour, enchanted the beach with their new wave of live electronics and their performance. Their use of the massive up-and-coming genre, electro swing, wowed the crowds and proved why they have been firmly placed as one of the top acts not only in South Africa but internationally as well. Harding said, “Playing at the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival Free Music Concerts has been incredible. It is definitely one of the best concerts in South Africa, you just can’t beat it.”

KwaDukuza municipality events co-ordinator, Collette Bundy, was thrilled with the outcome of the event and said, “The concert definitely exceeded our expectations and we are very pleased with the bumper crowds and the support that we received on both evenings. We were happy to put on a sterling show for our locals and visitors”.

The Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival is one of the highlights of the Mr Price Pro Ballito PRIME ASP World Tour surfing event, which together with the entertainment and activities line-up has been labelled as the biggest surf, beach and lifestyle event on the African continent.
