2012/03/30
If you’re a die-hard fan of SA music then there’s only one place to be on July 6 and 7 and that’s at Salt Rock Beach in KwaDukuza where the best ever line-up for the Mr Price Pro Ballito concerts has been assembled.

Fourteen class acts spread over two nights will ensure that music fans will be rocking hard under the stars at the free music festival which now attracts well over 15,000 music lovers from around the country.

On Friday July 6 Gangs of Ballet will pave the way for Wonderboom, the Ard Matthews Trio, Shadow Club, aKing, Crash Car Burn and Flash Republic and then on July 7 rising star Toya Delazy opens for Lloyd Cele, iscreamstix, Locnville, Pascal & Pearce, Goodluck and Dino Bravo.

“What an amazing line-up,” said SAMA nominee Tamara Dey from Flash Republic upon hearing about the exciting line-up for the concerts. “Some of my favorite bands are on that list. It’s going to be another really special show this year.”

Top South African electro hop music duo and identical twin brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin are also looking forward to playing some of their new tunes under the stars.

“I can't wait to play under the stars as most of our songs have to do with astrological things so it makes perfect sense,” said Andrew. “I'm also amped to finally let people listen to some of the new music we've been working on, I really think it’s gonna blow people away.”

The music festival is one of the many highlights of the Mr Price Pro Ballito, an ASP World Tour ‘PRIME’ event, featuring the top 96 surfers in the world with a cool R2 million Rand in prize money.

The international surfing event, born out of the Gunston 500, has grown from strength to strength at Ballito and has entrenched itself into surfers and spectators hearts and minds alike thanks to the spectacular surf at the venue in recent years.

Current world number three surfer and 2010 Mr Price Pro Ballito champion Jordy Smith (Durban) is featured in the stellar line-up of international surfers who will represent no less than 14 nationalities at this year’s event.

The Mr Price Pro Beach Festival runs concurrently with the surf and music events offering a kaleidoscope of activities from extreme sports to live entertainment to various kids activities making the Mr Price Pro Ballito the biggest surf, beach and lifestyle event on the African continent.
