Top BMX, Skateboard and Parkour Athletes set to Wow Crowds at the Mr Price Pro Extreme Park

2013/07/04
This winter, extreme sport enthusiasts will be treated to two days of spectacular competition at the Mr Price Pro Extreme Park. The Extreme Park has been a hugely popular aspect of the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival for several years, and acts as a showcase for amateur and pro athletes alike in each of the disciplines involved. On both July 6 and 7, the Extreme Park will host BMX, skateboarding and parkour competitions, which will provide an exciting culmination to the demonstrations that have been taking place throughout the first few days of the festival.

The BMX event will take place at midday on both days, after a warm-up session for the participating athletes. Each competitor will have one minute to perform to the best of their ability, on a freestyle basis. The skateboarding event, scheduled to take place at 2:30pm, will also take the form of a 60 second freestyle showcase, while the parkour competition will be held as a speed run. This means that each athlete will have to perform over a specific course, in the quickest time possible.

Guests will have the opportunity to watch Monster Energy sponsored riders showing off their talent throughout the competitions. Top names for the BMX event include Malcolm Peters and Colin Loudon, with Khule Ngubane, Adam Wolfe and Martin Stoffberg representing the brand in the skateboarding. The parkour competition, which is sponsored by the World Freerunning Parkour Federation, will feature athletes from such esteemed academies as Sabotage Elite and the Concrete Foundation Crew.

The Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival runs concurrently with the ASP PRIME rated Mr Price Pro Ballito surf competition, which draws top surfers from a total of eighteen countries worldwide.

The chosen charity of the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach Festival is the RedCap Foundation, which carries out invaluable work with South Africa’s youth, ranging from newborn babies to young adults up to the age of twenty-five. They focus specifically on improving the nation’s education system and tackling unemployment among young people. Their aim is to engage, enable and inspire the children who will grow up to become the orchestrators of social change and of a positive future for South Africa.
